That could turn around the sales outlook in Japan. Blue Dragon being the other one. If you take a look at Japans Top selling games you will not see any games by developers in the USA or Europe. And a pure Japanese made and style game is what xbox consoles have been missing. Thanks Microsoft. Never neglect one region of the world even if they typically show you no love. Keep it up.
You will not feel screwed if they release an xbox 360 with HD dvd built in because it doesn't affect your gaming experience. Being a Hardcore 360 fan has absolutely nothing to do with HD dvd movies. You can always get the add on if thats what you want and you don't loose. But giving consumers an option of having it built in would be nice for Gamers/HD movie buffs. Remember that less than 5% of consumers have HD tv's. So the combo won't be for everyone. Including the Hardcore 360 gamers....

Why do you do that? Microsoft hasn't released the amount of the HD Dvd add on. But what MS has said is that the premium 360 with the HD dvd add on will be less than the ps3 in either form. And the news you are referring to is a guestimate and even in that article it says the 360 with the HD dvd add on is less than the ps3. Here is a link for those who might have missed it.

Where or not to use the HD Dvd for games. I don't honestly see it needed for many years. But I guess for Square or other companies that like to put a lot of HD movie cut scene content in their games it would be useful. With HD dvd's easily putting 45 gigs on one side of the disc...space should never be an issue. But first MS needs to sell a bunch of HD dvd players before devs start to even think about it.

Xfire's goal is to be more like xbox live. They aren't there yet obviously. Xbox live keeps evolving and improving. And xfire runs on PC's that use MS's operating system. Its interesting. All I know is xfire from what I have used is no where near xbox lives ease and functionality. But it will be passable for the sony ps3. But it won't be able to deliver no where near what xbox live delivers as it continues to evolve.
